Safety Practices for Water Skiing

It should also have extra buckles so that it will have a snug fit and allow you to take a fall easily without hurting yourself. Aside from wearing the proper protective gear, you also need to know the right hand signals that will allow you to have a better and safer water skiing experience. For example, when you want the boat to stop, make a slashing motion across your neck with your hand. Turning your thumb down means that the boat should slow down, while lifting up your thumb means that it should speed up. Other gestures that you can use are patting your head to indicate that you want to return to the dock, or pointing your finger upwards while making a circular motion to signal that you want the boat to make a turn.
The person driving the boat also needs to follow some practical safety tips, such as making sure that the boat's engine is turned off when the rider enters or exits the water. He should also wait until the rider gets far enough away from the boat before starting the engine. Finally, there should be another person on the boat who will maintain visual contact with the rider at all times.
